Day 1

Arrival & Relax in the evening

Arrive in Tangalle and check in at Villa Tanderra, your peaceful coastal retreat for the next few days. Settle into your room and take time to relax after your journey, enjoying the calm ambiance and refreshing sea breeze.

In the evening, unwind at leisure or take a gentle stroll along the beach, where golden sands and rolling waves create the perfect setting to relax. As you ease into the tranquil surroundings, prepare yourself for the exciting wildlife encounters that await in the coming days.

Day 2

Udawalawe Wildlife Safari & Elephant Transit Experience

Enjoy an exciting jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park at a time of your choice. You may opt for a morning safari from 6.00 am to 9.00 am, when wildlife is most active in the cool early hours, or an afternoon safari from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm, when animals gather around water sources as the day begins to cool. Udawalawe is especially renowned for its large herds of wild elephants, along with deer, buffalo, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife.

Depending on your selected safari timing, we will also arrange a visit to the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe. If you choose the morning safari, you will visit the center at 10.30 am to witness the feeding of rescued elephant calves. If you prefer the afternoon safari, the visit will be scheduled at 2.30 pm before entering the park. This heartwarming experience offers insight into Sri Lanka’s conservation efforts to rehabilitate orphaned elephants back into the wild.

Begin your day with a relaxed morning at the villa, enjoying the soothing coastal ambiance and gentle sea breeze. Take your time to unwind on the veranda or simply soak in the tranquil surroundings.

Optionally you are free to embark on a visit to the historic Mulgirigala Rock Temple, often called the “Little Sigiriya of the South.” Climb the ancient rock steps to explore a series of cave temples adorned with centuries-old Buddhist murals, statues, and inscriptions, while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

In the late afternoon, head out for a traditional catamaran ride on Kalametiya Lagoon. Glide quietly through mangroves and open waters, spotting a rich variety of resident and migratory birds, including herons, egrets, kingfishers, and shorebirds. As the sun sets, the lagoon transforms into a serene and colorful landscape, creating a magical end to the day.
